Lena Headey to join HBO’s Game of Thrones

Saturday, January 2nd, 2010

Actor Sean Bean who played Major Richard Sharpe will be joined by Lean Hedely of The Sarah Connor Chronicles fame, in HBO’s ‘A games of Thrones’ which is based on George RR Martin popular ‘Song of Fire and Ice’ series of fantasy books. Lean Hedley is due to be playing the role of queen everyone loves to hate-Cersei Lannister

They will be accompanying Peter Dinklage, Mark Addy, Jennifer Ehle, Nikolaj Coster-Waldau, Tamzin Merchant, and Iain Glen in the cast, an addition to a few lesser known and completely unknown actors who have been confirmed for the pilot. No view date has been set for the pilot as yet, and there is no firm promise that HBO will commit to a full series. However with an impressive cast list headed up by Bean and Hedley, this project is definitely being taken seriously.

The cast is already impressive, but some new casting is still to be announced and unconfirmed but strongly rumoured casting of Rory McCann as Sandor “The Hound” Clegane.

The show is been adapted and is being produced by David Benioff and Dan Weiss. David Benioff has suggested a ‘crappy’ tagline for the project could be, “The Sopranos in Middle-earth”, which can only get you thinking. If true to the books plot elements that should contain a spot of conspiracy, incest, child murder, corruption, conspiracy, a rival claimant to the throne across the sea, the still-festering legacy of a civil war 20 years before, a growing threat in the North and did I say conspiracy? We should see a show which is much darker than previous fantasy adaptations Sean Bean has starred in.

Production is due to begin in Northern Ireland in October 2009, at Paint Hall Studios in Belfast. It is also rumoured that the BBC will have a financial involvement in the series in a similar way they did with HBO’s Rome series.

HBO has a strong history of producing great television drama, and with the strength of the source material, the cast and HBO’s pedigree. I think we can look forward to a truly exciting proposition.

Game of Thrones is a new HBO Series based on George RR Martins ‘A Song of Ice and Fire Series of Books’. It has an all star cast including such notable names as Sean Bean, Lena Headey, and Mark Addy.

How To Find A Great Value In Ireland Tours

Friday, October 9th, 2009

One important factor to keep in mind is that best value doesn’t always mean lowest price. While its true that you can find some bargain-basement Ireland tours, you may ultimately be disappointed in the quality of the services and lodging you receive.

Many lower end Ireland tours demand that you travel on charter flights. This, without a doubt, will make the tour cheaper, but at the same time it will reduces the flexibility of your schedule. Also, your flight could be canceled or delayed which would mess up or ruin your schedule.

There are also low end tour packages that do not include lodging and others that do have lodging in cheap hotels. Again, the overall vacation and tour experience is about quality. If you are left with a lodging experience that is not up to your standards or authentic, you run the risk of a sub-par vacation.

Quality Ireland tour packages include other benefits such as meal plans, transportation, and in depth tour guides. Many low end service packages don’t include such benefits, and this can become quite a burden when looking for a relaxing quality vacation. Ironically, in the interest of saving money, it is often in your best interest to conduct business with a tour packaging service that offers such luxuries as opposed to spending time, energy, and money trying to find such benefits.

When searching for Ireland tours, it is in your best interest to not be stuck on the marked price of a service, but rather the overall value. Does the tour cover the geographic regions you are planning on seeing? Does it allow you to explore some areas on your own? Are transportation and meal packages included? Does it offer lodging and if so is it authentic? Will you have an educated guide?

Remember, look beyond just the price tag. This is your vacation and your authentic Irish tour. You are not going to Ireland with the expectations of a sub-par experience. You are going to see the natural beauty authenticity. Find what you’re looking for.

Ireland is situated on the western seaboard of Europe. It is a relatively small island, just 170 miles wide by 300 miles long and has a population of less than 4 million people. Its nearest neighbor is Scotland, which is only about 20 miles across the North Channel and is visible on a clear day. Wales is about 50 miles from Ireland at its nearest points.

Ireland, a land of ancient cultures, a store room to the wealth of prehistoric and medieval cultural sites. This is obvious from the early Bronze Age graves decorated with the abstract art that incorporates the ritual decoration of its time.Impressive examples of such monuments can be seen at Dowth, Knowth and Newgrange.

St. Patrick, the Patron Saint of Ireland established Christianity in Ireland during the fifth century AD. His feast day March 17th is a national holiday and is celebrated with customary zeal nationwide and indeed in America, home to more people of Irish origin than Ireland itself. (more…)
